Illawarra Credit Union was established in 1972, through the amalgamation of the Collieries Employees Credit Union and Southern Mutual Credit Union. At that time the Credit Union had three branches in Wollongong and 4250 members. Over the years, Illawarra Credit Union has become an integral part of the Illawarra Community.
Illawarra Credit Union exists to provide financial services to our members. Unlike banks, who are owned by their shareholders, we are owned by our members. Instead of paying out profits to shareholders, our profits are used to provide improved products and services for our members.
We are committed to providing our members with excellent customer service, competitive interest rates for borrowing and saving and a diversified range of financial services that meet their ever-changing needs.
Illawarra Credit Union is committed to supporting our local communities. In addition to assisting our members reach their financial goals, we also support a range local charities, sporting associations, community groups and events.
We have more than 30,000 members and 9 branches, from Campbelltown and Helensburgh in the north to Nowra in the south.
Since then, the Credit Union has operated as a multi branded organisation which was joined by Shoalhaven Paper Mill Employees Credit Union and Western City Credit Union in 2006.

Community Alliance Credit Union has has continued to grow and now provides financial solutions for approximately 42,000 members, serviced by 11 branches. The Credit Union has over $450 million in total assets and employs more than 100 people.
